Has your DOT medical card expired?

Has your medical card expired? You need a new medical exam as soon as possible to stay in compliance without risking your CDL being down graded.
The the Colorado DMV will send you a letter informing you know your medical card has expired after 10 days of not renewing. Colorado allows up to 33 days before your license will be down graded to a non-CDL driver's license if you do not renew your medical card. Colorado also allows 6-12 months to laps before re-training is required for your CDL.
If you renew your medical card with-in those 33 days, the medical examiner's submission is sufficient to keep you compliant. If you renew the medical card after 33 days, you may be requried to bring the paper copy into the Colorado DMV as well.
Remember that the DOT and FMCSA do not grant extra time before considering you inelegible to driver commercial vehicles. They do not recognize a grace period.
